Wedding Preparation Paperwork
The first step in the process for arranging a marriage in the Catholic Church, is for the couple to meet with the priest. During the first session, an initial form can be completed and the expectations on the couple explained.
For a marriage to be held in a Catholic church, a number of papers have to be completed. There is a Commonwealth Intention of Marriage Form, an Archdiocesan Form and if the marriage is between a Catholic and either a Non-Catholic or unbaptised, an additional form for the Archdiocese. A minimum of three, preferably six months, should be given for the completion of the forms. The parish Priest of the parish the bride resides in is responsible for the completion of the forms. As well as the paperwork, there is an expectation that the couple will attend a Preparation Session before the wedding can be booked. |
